Tortellini and Cheese with Hot Italian Crumbles

Ingredients

Tortellini and Cheese

  • 1 lb Tortellini
  • 1 lb. Cheese
  • ½ c. AP Flour
  • ½ c. Butter (unsalted)
  • 4 c. Half and Half
  • 2 tsp. Burger Blend
  • ¼ c. Sour Cream

Toppings

  • Hot Italian Sausage
  • Italian Panko Breadcrumbs
  • The All-American

Instructions

  1. In large pot, cook HOT ITALIAN SAUSAGE. Once cooked, drain grease and clean out pot.
  2. In same pot, place water. Add Salt. Bring to boil and add TORTELLINI. Cook until al dente. Strain and set aside in pot.
  3. In a large sauce pan turned to medium, add BUTTER. Once melted and bubbling, add FLOUR in small amounts stirring until incorporated each time.
  4. Once evenly incorporated, cook the roux until it begins to brown. Add HALF AND HALF. Stir. Add TTGF BACKYARD BURGER BLEND. Continue stirring.
  5. Once mixture is bubbling, add SHREDDED CHEESE in small amounts while continuing to stir. Once evenly incorporated, add SOUR CREAM
  6. Add TORTELLINI to cheese sauce and mix until incorporated. Top with HOT ITALIAN SAUSAGE and PANKO BREADCRUMBS.
  7. Place in oven and broil for 3-4 minutes. Pay attention as to not burn.
  8. Pull from oven and top with THE ALL-AMERICAN.
  9. Serve and MUNCH MUNCH MUNCH!

Notes

  • Make sure you brown your roux. If you don't, the raw flour taste will come through.
  • Use any cheese you want. Just make sure it melts. Parmesan is a bad choice for melting, but great for topping!

Well...I have to come up with something that is on brand for us, but honestly, a bigger reason is these recipes get me thinking. Hence why this one really went off the rails.

2. Can I use this as a normal Mac and Cheese recipe?
